A Roof Built for the Job

Cribbs Causeway is one of the largest retail destinations in the South West, on the northern edge of Bristol. The B&Q store there has the profile common to big-box retail: a very large, largely flat, largely unobstructed roof above a building lit and heated through every trading hour.

That combination is close to ideal. Few roof lights or plant to design around, a clear structural grid, and a consumption pattern that peaks during exactly the hours the array generates. Most of what is produced is consumed on site.

A retail warehouse roof is the closest thing British commercial property has to a purpose-built solar platform.

With Kingspan and Medas Construction we delivered 350kWp across the roof, with the store trading normally throughout.

Big-Box Retail Solar Across the UK

Alongside B&Q we have delivered solar for Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Aldi, Primark, NEXT and Lok’nStore — retail and distribution buildings from Bristol to Sunderland.

Retail parks and trade counters across Chester, Broughton, Wrexham and Deeside have exactly the same roof profile. If you operate a large-format retail or trade building in North Wales or Cheshire, the economics that worked at Cribbs Causeway will very likely work on your roof too.

Whatever your building type, we survey it, design for it and certify it. Talk to us about commercial solar panel installation, or browse the full solar portfolio.

Retail Solar at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol

The B&Q store is on Lysander Road at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol. The surrounding retail district includes The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, giving this 350kWp rooftop installation a clear local context for retail solar PV in the Bristol area.
