Not a one-off contract but a continuing relationship — the strongest endorsement a contractor can have.
Tesco operates one of the largest retail estates in the UK, and rolling solar across it is a long-term programme rather than a single project. We have been part of that programme since 2018, working through Kingspan.
Supermarket roofs suit solar for the same reasons everywhere: large clear spans, minimal shading, and a building below drawing steadily on refrigeration, lighting and ventilation through daylight hours. Most of what the array generates never leaves the site.
The reason this case study matters is not the capacity. It is the word 'ongoing'. Any contractor can complete one store. Being invited back, year after year, is what tells you the first ones were done properly.
A repeating programme of store installations delivered to a consistent national specification.
Photovoltaic arrays installed across ten Tesco store roofs as part of a continuing programme.
Each store individually surveyed, designed and notified to its local Distribution Network Operator.
Installations delivered above open, trading supermarkets with customer safety paramount.
MCS certified and NICEIC approved at every site, with documentation matched across the programme.

Circa 200kWp of generation across ten stores, feeding directly into store operations.
A delivery model proven across multiple stores that can be applied to further sites as the programme continues.
Stores remained open throughout, as retail rollouts require.
Consistent MCS and electrical certification across the estate for corporate reporting.
Between Tesco, Sainsbury's and Aldi we have delivered solar across more than sixty individual supermarket sites. That is a particular kind of experience: working at height above a public space, coordinating with store managers, and finishing to a deadline that cannot slip because the store opens at seven.
Our base is Queensferry on Deeside, with Chester, Flintshire, Wrexham and Cheshire on the doorstep. Local businesses get the benefit of national retail discipline applied to a single roof.
Whatever your building type, we survey it, design for it and certify it. Talk to us about commercial solar panel installation, or browse the full solar portfolio.
