Twenty-five commercial solar PV projects delivered by MARA Electrical — from a 2.2MWp distribution centre to Snowdonia National Park's headquarters. MCS certified solar installers and NICEIC approved electrical contractors, trusted by Sainsbury's, Tesco, Aldi, Primark, NEXT, DP World and the Ministry of Defence.

Since 2010 we have installed photovoltaic systems on supermarket roofs, distribution centres, coldstores, ports, glass works, saw mills, business parks, leisure clubs and a national park headquarters. Every project below was delivered by MCS certified, NICEIC approved engineers — and every one is real work, with a real client and a real completion date.

Most of the projects above are national names on national sites. What that buys a business in Chester, Deeside or Wrexham is confidence: the contractor quoting for your roof has designed arrays for Sainsbury's and the Ministry of Defence, and has taken grid connections through DNOs from SP Energy Networks to UK Power Networks.
We are based in Queensferry on Deeside, minutes from the A494, the A548 and the Flintshire Bridge, and a short run from Chester, Connah's Quay, Buckley, Mold, Broughton and Hawarden. Local projects like the 250kWp in-roof array at Pentre Canol in Denbigh and the Snowdonia National Park Authority headquarters sit in the same portfolio as the 2.2MWp NEXT distribution centre.
Whether you need commercial solar panel installation or solar panels and battery storage for your home, the same MCS certified, NICEIC approved team does the work — and we can pair it with EV charging in a single visit.
It depends on how much of your generation you use on site. Businesses that operate through daylight hours — distribution centres, coldstores, manufacturing plants — typically achieve high self-consumption, meaning most generated units directly replace bought electricity. That is why commercial solar PV usually pays back faster than domestic, commonly in 4 to 7 years, then keeps cutting electricity costs for the remaining 20+ years of panel warranty.
The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) requires larger energy suppliers to pay you for surplus electricity exported to the grid. SEG payments require an MCS certified installation, which is one of the practical reasons accreditation matters when choosing an installer. We register your system and advise on the best available export tariff as part of the handover.
Yes, directly. On-site generation reduces your carbon footprint against Scope 2 emissions and gives you measurable, auditable figures for sustainability reporting. Kingspan's own carbon zero programme is exactly why they commissioned the Power Canopy we installed — real generation, rather than offsetting, is what moves net zero targets.
Battery storage raises self-consumption by holding daytime generation for use in the evening or overnight, which suits sites that operate outside daylight hours or want a degree of energy independence. For a business running purely 9-to-5, the case is weaker because most generation is consumed as it is produced. We model both scenarios in your feasibility survey so the decision is based on your actual load profile.
For commercial arrays, yes. We assess load capacity and specify the right mounting system for your roof type — trapezoidal, standing-seam, built-up felt or in-roof. The 250kWp in-roof installation at Pentre Canol in Denbigh is a good example: in-roof systems replace the roof covering rather than sitting above it, and need designing accordingly.
Yes. Any system above 3.68kW per phase requires a G99 application to your Distribution Network Operator, and we manage the whole process including witness testing and Approval to Connect. On the 165.6kWp Snetterton Business Park array that meant working with UK Power Networks; in North Wales it is usually SP Energy Networks.
