Cut your electricity bills with solar PV designed around your roof, your household and your budget. MCS certified so you qualify for Smart Export Guarantee payments — installed by NICEIC approved electricians who have delivered 21MWp+ of solar since 2010.

Domestic solar panel installation is the design, supply and fitting of a solar PV system on a home so it generates its own electricity. MARA Electrical install domestic solar across Chester, Deeside, Flintshire, Wrexham and North Wales — MCS certified and NICEIC approved, with a free solar survey, a fixed written quote and a generation and payback projection for your specific roof before you commit.
We install commercial arrays up to 2.2MWp. The same engineering discipline goes into a three-bedroom semi in Buckley.
Every domestic solar panel installation is quoted as a fixed price after a free survey, so there are no surprises once the scaffold is up.

Most domestic installations are completed in one to two days on site.

Cost depends on roof size, panel count and whether you add battery storage. A typical domestic solar PV system in the UK is commonly quoted between £5,000 and £10,000 installed, with larger arrays and battery storage costing more. MARA Electrical give a fixed written quote after a free solar survey, including a generation estimate and payback projection for your specific roof.
Most domestic solar panel installations pay back in roughly 7 to 12 years, depending on how much of the generation you use in the home rather than export. Panels typically carry 20 to 25 year performance warranties, so the system keeps generating long after payback. Adding battery storage raises self-consumption and shortens payback.
The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) obliges larger energy suppliers to pay you for surplus electricity exported to the grid. Rates vary by supplier, so it is worth comparing. SEG payments require an MCS certified installation, which is one practical reason accreditation matters when choosing an installer.
For most homes, roof-mounted solar panels fall under permitted development and need no planning permission. Listed buildings, conservation areas and some flat-roof or ground-mounted arrays are exceptions. MARA Electrical confirm the position for your property during the free survey.
South-facing is ideal, but east and west-facing roofs still perform well — often around 80% of a south-facing yield, and they spread generation across the morning and evening rather than peaking at midday. North-facing roofs are not viable. We model your actual roof orientation, pitch and shading before quoting.
Yes. Photovoltaic panels generate from daylight, not direct heat, and actually run slightly more efficiently in cooler conditions. Cloudy days produce less than bright ones, but a well-designed system in Flintshire or Cheshire generates usefully across the whole year.
Battery storage stores daytime generation for use in the evening, which raises self-consumption and cuts more from your bill. It suits households that are out during the day. MARA Electrical model both options so you can see the numbers before deciding — read more on our solar battery storage page.
