Snowdonia National Park HQ

Solar PV for the Authority's headquarters at Penrhyndeudraeth, in the heart of Eryri. A public-sector building in one of Wales' most protected landscapes — where a renewable installation has to be as sympathetic as it is effective.
Ministry of Defence Buildings solar panel installation by MARA Electrical — MoD / Kingspan / SSE / Rydon — commercial solar installers North Wales and Chester ~50 kWp 2018–ongoing MoD / Kingspan / SSE / Rydon

Ministry of Defence Buildings

Circa 50kWp systems installed across various Ministry of Defence buildings, working alongside Kingspan, SSE and Rydon. An ongoing programme on a secure government estate, where site access, vetting and programme discipline matter as much as the electrical work.

6 David Lloyd Leisure Clubs solar panel installation by MARA Electrical — Custom Solar — commercial solar installers North Wales and Chester Leisure 2023 Custom Solar

6 David Lloyd Leisure Clubs

Solar PV across six David Lloyd leisure facilities, delivered with Custom Solar. Health clubs carry substantial pool heating, ventilation and lighting loads through the day, so generated energy is consumed on site rather than exported.
Glass Manufacturer, North Wales solar panel installation by MARA Electrical — ESB / Grange Solar — commercial solar installers North Wales and Chester North Wales 2022 ESB / Grange Solar

Glass Manufacturer, North Wales

Solar PV for a North Wales glass manufacturer, delivered with ESB and Grange Solar. Glass production is famously energy-intensive, which makes every kilowatt generated on site count twice — once on the bill, once on the carbon reporting.

Distribution Centre, Manchester

Solar PV on a Manchester distribution centre, delivered with Lynx. Logistics sheds combine enormous roof spans with all-day operations — the classic commercial solar opportunity.
Temporary Site Cabins solar panel installation by MARA Electrical — Vinci — commercial solar installers North Wales and Chester Construction 2023 Vinci

Temporary Site Cabins

Solar PV for temporary site cabins with Vinci. Construction compounds burn significant diesel and grid power for welfare facilities; solar offsets that for the life of the project and moves with the site afterwards.

Read the Full Story on Three Projects

Where we have the full technical detail, we have written it up properly — scope, engineering and outcome.

National Track Record, Deeside Based

Most of the projects above are national names on national sites. What that buys a business in Chester, Deeside or Wrexham is confidence: the contractor quoting for your roof has designed arrays for Sainsbury's and the Ministry of Defence, and has taken grid connections through DNOs from SP Energy Networks to UK Power Networks.

We are based in Queensferry on Deeside, minutes from the A494, the A548 and the Flintshire Bridge, and a short run from Chester, Connah's Quay, Buckley, Mold, Broughton and Hawarden. Local projects like the 250kWp in-roof array at Pentre Canol in Denbigh and the Snowdonia National Park Authority headquarters sit in the same portfolio as the 2.2MWp NEXT distribution centre.

Whether you need commercial solar panel installation or solar panels and battery storage for your home, the same MCS certified, NICEIC approved team does the work — and we can pair it with EV charging in a single visit.

What Businesses Ask Before They Commit

How much will commercial solar reduce our energy bills?

It depends on how much of your generation you use on site. Businesses that operate through daylight hours — distribution centres, coldstores, manufacturing plants — typically achieve high self-consumption, meaning most generated units directly replace bought electricity. That is why commercial solar PV usually pays back faster than domestic, commonly in 4 to 7 years, then keeps cutting electricity costs for the remaining 20+ years of panel warranty.

What is the Smart Export Guarantee and do we qualify?

The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) requires larger energy suppliers to pay you for surplus electricity exported to the grid. SEG payments require an MCS certified installation, which is one of the practical reasons accreditation matters when choosing an installer. We register your system and advise on the best available export tariff as part of the handover.

Does solar help with net zero and carbon reporting?

Yes, directly. On-site generation reduces your carbon footprint against Scope 2 emissions and gives you measurable, auditable figures for sustainability reporting. Kingspan's own carbon zero programme is exactly why they commissioned the Power Canopy we installed — real generation, rather than offsetting, is what moves net zero targets.

Should we add battery storage as well?

Battery storage raises self-consumption by holding daytime generation for use in the evening or overnight, which suits sites that operate outside daylight hours or want a degree of energy independence. For a business running purely 9-to-5, the case is weaker because most generation is consumed as it is produced. We model both scenarios in your feasibility survey so the decision is based on your actual load profile.

Does our roof need a structural survey?

For commercial arrays, yes. We assess load capacity and specify the right mounting system for your roof type — trapezoidal, standing-seam, built-up felt or in-roof. The 250kWp in-roof installation at Pentre Canol in Denbigh is a good example: in-roof systems replace the roof covering rather than sitting above it, and need designing accordingly.

Do you handle the G99 grid connection?

Yes. Any system above 3.68kW per phase requires a G99 application to your Distribution Network Operator, and we manage the whole process including witness testing and Approval to Connect. On the 165.6kWp Snetterton Business Park array that meant working with UK Power Networks; in North Wales it is usually SP Energy Networks.
